fixing my cardio.mp4

I have not been consistent with my cardio-related fitness in a long time. As of this writing (9/6/2026), the last time I was actually in it feels like ages ago.

How to not make it boring?

  • I will be listening to podcasts and audiobooks. To finish off, will switch to music in the last 10-15 minutes of the workouts.

Hopefully, this post will serve as encouragement as I improve this aspect of my health. If you’re looking to follow along, as always, please be sure to consult with an actual physician before making changes to your existing regimen!

My overall “win-conditions”:

  • 150-180 minutes of cardio per week.
    • 45-60 mins of Zone 2 cardio (treadmill mostly)
    • 10 mins uninterrupted jump rope at controlled pace
    • 30 mins total jump rope time / session

Where am I starting at? (continually updated until maintenance reached, next check-in - November 1, 2026)

  • 0 mins / week on average dedicated to cardio (gotta start somewhere!)

    • 0 mins Zone 2 cardio / week
    • 0 mins uninterrupted jump rope at controlled pace
    • 0 mins total jump rope time / session
  • Levers

    • Challenge will be maintained by increasing incline and/or speed.
    • Incline increment first, then speed second.

I just want to feel healthier, happier and have more energy during my day. This is one lever to pull that could make that happen.
